New York State Education Law requires that students receive vision screening once within six months of admission to school and in grades Pre-K or K-3 as well as hearing screening in grades Pre-K or K, 1 & 3. These screenings are part of the school health services provided by each public school district. The purpose of this requirement is to track growth as well as detect the presence of hearing or vision problems likely to impede a student’s learning. We will be conducting screening for your student through out the school year. If the results of the screening indicate that your child requires further follow-up, you will receive written notification.
