  1. Solvay Middle School has an anticipated opening for a probationary special education teacher. This is a 10-month position. Start date is to be determined. 
  2. Coordinator of Multi-Tier System Support (MTSS), Community Partnerships, & Mental Health.  This position is a 12-month position.  Salary range is $85,000-$95,000 depending on experience.  Start date is to be determined.  Apply by October 21, 2022. This individual will directly report to the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. Candidates should have a CAS or be close to achieving one in Education and hold a district leadership certification from New York State. The individual should have strong leadership skills with the ability to facilitate data-driven discussions with teachers, support staff, and principals to improve student-learning outcomes, specifically related to New York State Social Emotional Learning and Mental Health Standards PreK-12. Experience in the mental health related fields associated with public school such as psychologist, counselor, social worker, etc. is preferred. The candidate needs to have a strong ability to take initiative and be a self-directed leader. Major Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead and facilitate comprehensive building and district wide MTSS.

  • Facilitate the collaboration of various student support services related to mental health,  social emotional learning and community partnerships at the building and district level. This includes supporting the integration, collaboration with, and oversight of Onondaga County provided services and other outside support embedded in or available to the district’s students and families.

  • Main coordinator of Solvay’s Office of Mental Health Grant.

  • Support and co-lead the implementation of the District Comprehensive Improvement Plan.

  • Lead and coordinate the integration of New York State Department of Education standards and initiatives related to social emotional learning and mental health continuum at the classroom, building, and district levels.

  • Facilitate multi-disciplinary team meetings (school counselors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, teachers, etc.) to coordinate collaboration to support students and families and implement state, district, and building wide initiatives.

  • Coordinate the implementation district wide of BIMAS universal screener three times a year.

  • Provide district-level training and support related to mental health, trauma informed practices, diversity, equity, inclusion, and crisis response plans.

  • Work closely with the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services to support the implementation of NYSED’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative.

  • Develop, organize, and facilitate community outreach, family engagement, and parent education to support the needs of students and their families by bridging the school to home connection.

  • Provides leadership for various grant based initiatives and seek additional collaboration and grant funding opportunities.

  • Support building level leadership in the implementation of character education programming.

  • Active member of Solvay’s Curriculum and Instructional Council.

  • Attends local collaborative meetings and learning opportunities related to SEL, mental health and wellness, and community and family engagement.

  • Lead the district’s wide mental health and wellness committee for district employees.

  • Performs other tasks as assigned by his/her supervisor

The Coordinator should have a solid background in supporting student mental health and an understanding of New York State learning standards, specifically related to social emotional learning and mental health, reporting requirements, and ESSA requirements. Additionally, the Coordinator should possess clear communication skills, the ability to support collaborative discussions, and a strong understanding of classroom-level learning and teaching related to PreK-12 social emotional learning and mental health.

  1. Solvay Middle School has an opening for a food service helper (dishwasher).  This is a 10-month position.  Hours are 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.  
  2. Solvay High School has an opening for a teaching assistant to start ASAP. This is a 10-month position. Hours are 7:15 a.m.-2:15 p.m.
  3. Daily substitutes needed for the 2022-23 school year for all instructional and non-instructional positions.
