On Saturday, March 20th, 15 of our Solvay Middle School Bearcats participated in CNY History Day at OCM BOCES in Liverpool. This is a regional contest for the National component of National History Day. Students who participated were: Adam Altaj, Dominic LaDuke, Liam Kennedy, Evan Zingaro, Pharrah Durham, Meleah Jones, Blake Tryon, Shane Patterson, Zaileese Tarbell, Nolan Tucker, Braelyn Kaltenbach, Kenady Kaltenbach, Tatiana Furness, Giovannah Harris and Jennifer Drozdovska.

All of our students did an outstanding job, working hard throughout the school year to complete their projects for the contest and presenting their projects they did in a variety of formats to the judges. Students created projects doing exhibits, documentaries, websites, and papers that related to the project's theme this year: Reaction, Revolution and Reform in History. Students also developed 3D printed items they made with the help of Mr. Kulibert that they displayed with their exhibits.
Out of the 15 students that participated, the following 13 students qualified with their projects, placing 1st or 2nd in certain categories to advance to the New York State History Day Contest being held at SUNY Oneonta at the end of April. Congratulations!
These students and projects are:
> Adam Altaj - First Place Junior Individual Exhibit - Marie Curie
> Zaileese Tartbell - Second Place Junior Individual Exhibit - Prison Labor Reform
> Braelyn Kaltenbach, Kenady Kaltenbach, Jennifer Drozdovska, Tatiana Furness, and Giovannah Harries - First Place Junior Group Exhibit - Jerry Rescue

Awards were presented to students by Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon.
