Lyncourt students visit SHS
A group of eighth grade students from the Lyncourt Union Free School District recently got a tour of their new high school from their peers -- Solvay High School students from the Lyncourt area.On Thursday, Jan. 25, eighth grade students from the Lyncourt Union Free School District came to SHS for a tour of the school. During this tour students had the opportunity to talk with SHS teachers in art, business, technology, music, and home and careers, and also learn about the different types of courses offered. Several of our high school students who live in Lyncourt helped to guide the tour groups and after the tour they spoke to the eighth graders about their experiences at SHS.
The SHS students explained about the nervousness of coming to the high school for the first time, how quickly they settled in, and how they found plenty of opportunities to engage them throughout their high school years. They also spoke about the new friends they have made, and about their still enduring friendships with their childhood Lyncourt friends. It was a very positive morning for both the eighth grade students and the high school students.
