Bearcat Bites and Barista in Solvay High School
Have you ever walked into your favorite coffee shop, excited to order your favorite beverage or snack, and are instead greeted by an endless line? While this may not be the case at Solvay High School, the Food Services team at SHS has worked together to come up with a solution to lines in the SHS cafeteria – the Bearcat Bites and Barista. The Bearcat Bites and Barista offers snacks and drinks, allowing students to skip the lunch line on those days they are just looking for a small snack or quick cup of coffee.
The Bearcat Bites and Barista opened up earlier this year and has been a tremendous success. When brainstorming ways to get kids through the lunch line faster, the Food Services team decided to move the snacks from the serving line into their own area. From this, the Bearcats Bites and Barista station was formed. Snacks offered fit within the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act guidelines and include items such as vegetables, chips, hummus, guacamole, and much more. Following the initial success of the Bearcat Bites and Barista, the Food Services team soon added options for hot and iced coffee, which quickly became a favorite among students at SHS.
The Bearcat Bites and Barista is available in the SHS cafeteria during lunch hours. The station offers a set menu of convenient snacks and drinks throughout the week. For more information, visit the Food Services website.
