Jay Tinklepaugh Named Next Solvay UFSD Superintendent
On Thursday, June 29, 2017, the Solvay Union Free School District Board of Education invited all staff and community members to attend a special BOE meeting for the vote on the next Solvay UFSD superintendent.At the meeting, the BOE voted to approve Jay Tinklepaugh at the next superintendent of the Solvay UFSD. Tinklepaugh currently works for the district as the Principal of Solvay High School.
Marking the appointment, the BOE also took the time to thank Superintendent Lawrence Wright for his work with the district over the past five years. During his time at Solvay UFSD, Wright oversaw capital projects for all three schools within the district and the District Office, a new turf field, the launch of the Onondaga Community College Advantage program, the Syracuse University Partnership, the notable 21st Century Learning Center grant, various community partnerships, and countless advances in technology.
“We appreciate all he has helped us accomplish at Solvay,” said BOE President Lena Rose Orlando. “We were very fortunate to have him with us for the past five years.”
Tinklepaugh will take over as superintendent effective August 15, 2017.
