Reconfiguration for Fourth Grade and Pre-K Approved

Dear Community Members,

On Monday, February 13, the Solvay Union Free School District (UFSD) Board of Education approved the proposed reconfiguration plan at Monday night's regularly scheduled meeting. The plan will move fourth grade to the Solvay Elementary School and the Pre-K program to the district office wing of Solvay Middle School this coming fall.

This decision is one that was not taken lightly. We at the Solvay UFSD have spent the last few months examining the situation carefully to determine what we believe to be the best course of action for our students. We are grateful to those of you who participated in the process and appreciate the input and feedback we have received from the community.

The reconfiguration plan will provide district wide benefits. While change is always difficult, we will collectively determine the best approach and work together to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible. Everyone directly impacted by the move, from faculty and staff to our students and community, will have the support that they need during this time.

We will be communicating our plans to move forward in the weeks and months ahead, but for now please know that all facility moves will take place over the summer when students are on break.

More information on the specific updates to be made to accommodate this change may be found on our district website here. For additional information or questions, please contact your school principal or the Solvay district office at 315-468-1111.
